FAQs

Why should I book a BFAB Tour?

BFAB Tours is an LGBTQ+ owned-and-operated business, led by a charismatic local—Brian the Fabulous (a.k.a. BFAB)—who has called New York City home for over a decade.  BFAB Tours are interactive, intimate, engaging, educational and fun!  On a BFAB Tour, you will learn about the neighborhood from someone who has actually lived there and have a FABulous time while doing it!

I am not part of the LGBTQ+ community; will I enjoy this tour?

Of course!!  BFAB Tours contain information that is of interest to the LGBTQ+ participant, but much of the tour covers the overall history and important landmarks of the neighborhood, so everyone will enjoy this tour!  However, all participants must be tolerant and respectful of the guide and the other participants.  Any behavior or language that is deemed to be inappropriate or of a harassing or discriminatory nature will not be tolerated.  If this happens, participants may be asked to leave the tour, and no refunds will be given.  We want FAB vibes only, darling!

What is the group size?

BFAB Tours are smaller and more intimate than many other walking tours.  We want you to be able to hear and interact with BFAB and the other participants—this is part of what makes a BFAB Tour fun!  A typical group would be no more than 10-12 participants.

Can I ask questions during my tour?

Absolutely!  Questions are not only allowed, they are encouraged!  However, inappropriate personal questions directed toward BFAB may result in nasty side-eye and a clack of his fan.

How long does the tour take?

BFAB Tours are designed to last around two and a half hours.  However, the length may vary slightly due to unforeseen circumstances, such as a drag queen sighting or an impromptu vogue battle.

Are the tours strenuous?

We will walk around 2 miles in total at a moderate pace on mostly even surfaces.  If you can strut your stuff at the club, you can take a BFAB Tour!

Where does my tour begin and/or end?

Please refer to the tour description and/or your confirmation email for specific location details, but ALL tours begin with joy and end with joy, honey!

Is the guide a licensed professional?

Yes!  Your guide, BFAB, has been officially licensed by the State of New York, and unofficially licensed by the gay community as a party icon.

Do you offer tours in other languages?

All tours are conducted solely in English.  However, BFAB does speak both French and Japanese at an intermediate level.  For questions in other languages, there is always Google Translate!

What should I bring on the tour?

  • Your tour confirmation email.

  • Your preferred form of hydration.

  • An umbrella and/or raincoat if it is raining or forecast to rain/snow.

  • Sunscreen and sunglasses if it is a sunny day.

  • Your FABulous attitude!

Can I bring photo equipment?

Personal cameras are allowed, but we discourage bringing selfie sticks or tripods—no one likes those on a tour, honey.

Can I bring my children on the tour?

Yes, but please be aware that BFAB Tours contain some adult themes and language. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Can I bring a pet on your tour?

We LOVE animals (ask BFAB about his tripod dog, Peggy)!  However, for the comfort and safety of other participants, we only allow registered service animals on our tours.

What if it rains or snows?

BFAB Tours are rain or shine.  However, in the case of extreme or unsafe weather (e.g. such as severe storms, lightning, or other hazardous situations etc.) the tour will be cancelled at the discretion of the tour operator and tour participants will be given notice and an option to rebook or obtain a refund.  But let’s just hope that Mother Nature isn’t having one of her mood swings!

How should I dress?

You can dress as FABulously as you would like, but please dress in comfortable attire that is appropriate to the weather conditions.  In addition, we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, because gurl, we are gonna sashay!  Save those high heels for the catwalk, not the sidewalk!

Can I cancel and get a refund?

Cancellations more than 48 hours in advance are eligible for a full refund.  Cancellations from 24 to 48 hours in advance are eligible for a refund of 50 percent.  Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour are not eligible for a refund.  We understand that things happen, but New York City is expensive and BFAB does have to make a living!  In the case of an urgent situation, email BFAB at info@bfabtours.com or call 646-543-7772.

Should I tip at the end of the tour?

Tips are appreciated but not expected, and are totally at your discretion.  If you thought the tour was FABulous and want to share the love, then please feel free!

Do you offer private tours?

Yes!  If you want BFAB’s sparkling personality all to yourself for a private tour, that can be arranged.  Just email bfab@bfabtours.com for pricing and more information.  Custom tours can also be requested.

Are your tours wheelchair accessible?

Every effort is made to make BFAB Tours open to all.  However, in some cases, New York City streets and sidewalks can be uneven or difficult to navigate.  For additional information, or to request specific accommodations, please reach out to us and we will do our best! info@bfabtours.com
